Dear friends,
Rita and I would like to welcome you all for this wonderful occasion of Ruth and Jude’s wedding. We
appreciate that you all chose to come here from so far to bless our children. On behalf of Jude’s
parents, Rita and I would, first of all, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this so
memorable for our children.
Today, as the father of the bride, I have been asked to speak a few words. I can confidently say that
this is the most challenging experience I have ever had in my life so far. To see my little girl all grown
up and to be able to hold her hands as she walked like a princess down the aisle is my biggest
happiness so far.
Jude, you are very lucky to have Ruth as your partner. I am not biased when I say this. Any guy,
whom my girl loves to bits this way, is sure to be lucky. I am sure you love her back the same way
too, and I am so happy seeing that twinkle in your eyes today.
I have always ensured that I hold my little girl’s hands wherever she goes. I want her to know I am
there for her and that she can count on me, come what may. Today, as I walked her down the aisle
and handed over her safely to Jude, I couldn’t help crying. Jude, I have taken care of her all my life;
now it is your turn. Ruth, I need you to remember that while Jude might be your prince charming, I
will always remain your king.
Jokes apart here comes some serious talk. Jude, you have to listen to this! As a little girl, Ruth always
stood for what she believed in. I used to get very mad at her at times. I am sure you will have such
moments too. However, at the end of the day, when she smiles and says sorry, you know it was
worth watching her get angry. Ruth, remember the times when you used to take my costly pens
from my shelf when I was sleeping? Well, I wasn’t sleeping! I used to watch you move like a cat
inside my room. I didn’t want to wake up and embarrass you. I want to tell the whole world today
that my daughter is my biggest treasure. I am so proud of her, and I do experience pangs of jealousy
when I come to terms that she is madly in love with her husband. However, I feel happiness in
knowing that she has chosen such a wonderful guy as her partner and that they are going to have
many, many years of together in the future.
I want to sign off with few words of wisdom (well, I am the old man, am I not?) for the beautiful
couple seated before me. Ruth – Never lose your individuality and positive attitude at any stage in
your life. Jude is a fantastic guy who is head over heels in love with you. So, you need to complement
each other in a beautiful way that people look up to you as the ideal couple. Jude – Ruth can get
difficult at times. I know it. But I know that you know to handle her. That is enough for me. In spite
of feeling jealous of leaving my little girl in your care, I can’t help feeling content because she is
being cared for by a better pair of hands now.
Home will never be the same without you running around it, Ruth. As much as we hated the noise
blaring from your rooms and your weird eating habits, we are going to miss all of those now. Now
Rita and I will keep getting frequent pangs of nostalgia maybe around 100 times a day. Jude – We
officially welcome you into our family. We couldn’t have asked for a better son-in-law, honestly!
Ignore Ruth when she keeps telling that her daddy is the best. Women just can’t stop telling the
truth often, can they?
With that, I request all of you to raise your glasses in a toast to these two beautiful people. To the
loving couple – May this day mark the beginning of a beautiful chapter in your lives.
