Good evening, everyone!
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m David, the very proud brother of the groom, Alex. And as you can imagine, it’s a huge honor for me to be standing here today as his best man—mostly because, growing up, I never thought he’d let me get the last word!
Now, when Alex asked me to be his best man, my first thought was, “Wow, he must really trust me with this!” But then I realized, no—he just has no idea how much ammunition I’ve gathered over the years. Don’t worry, Alex, I won’t tell them everything… just most of it!
Let me start by saying, Alex has been my best friend since day one. Sure, we’ve had our fair share of sibling rivalry—fighting over toys, who got the front seat in the car, and who got the last slice of pizza. Spoiler: it was usually me. But despite all of that, he’s always been there for me, and I’ve always looked up to him—even if I’m technically taller!
When Alex first told me about Emma, I could tell something was different. There was a certain way he talked about her—a sparkle in his eye, a smile that just wouldn’t go away. It was clear she had stolen his heart… and, as we’ve come to learn, his last slice of pizza too. So, I knew she was special.
When I finally met Emma, it all made sense. She’s kind, intelligent, and the perfect match for my brother. And let’s be honest, anyone who can put up with his terrible jokes and obsession with fantasy football deserves all the praise in the world. But in all seriousness, she’s brought out the best in Alex. I’ve seen him become a better person since they’ve been together, and that’s how you know it’s true love.
Speaking of love, I want to share some brotherly wisdom with you both—because if there’s one thing I know about marriage (from zero personal experience), it’s that it’s all about balance. Alex, as a married man, you will quickly learn two important phrases: “You’re right, dear,” and “I’m sorry.” Learn them well, they will serve you for a lifetime.
And Emma, I’ve known Alex all my life, and I can tell you—he may be a bit of a goofball, but he has a heart of gold. He will love you fiercely, stand by your side through thick and thin, and—most importantly—he’ll always let you have the last slice of pizza.
So, as we celebrate this incredible day, I want to take a moment to remind you both how lucky you are. You’ve found someone to laugh with, to cry with, and to grow with. Marriage isn’t always easy, but it’s the most rewarding journey you’ll ever take—especially when you’ve got the right person by your side. And I can say, without a doubt, you two are perfect for each other.
Now, before I start getting too emotional and ruin my reputation as the cool brother, let’s raise our glasses to the happy couple.
To Alex and Emma—may your love be endless, your laughter frequent, and your pizza slices always shared. Cheers!
