Greetings, ladies and gentlemen. I’d just like to start by saying what an honour it was to be asked to be [Grooms Name]’s best man. I appreciate that it must have been a hard decision for him, but let’s face it, he made the right choice. I mean when [Grooms Name] asked me to be the best man I immediately thought to myself, “What had I done to deserve a privilege like this”, or “Who dropped out at the last minute”? “Could I turn the job down and still get drunk at his expense”? Joking aside, having accepted the job, I am here today to share a few words about the groom.
Having known [Grooms Name] for [number of years], I can tell you that he’s been a great friend. He’s always been there for me when I needed him, whether it was a shoulder to cry on or just someone to have a laugh with. He’s also been a great source of support and guidance over the years, and I know he’s going to make a wonderful husband and father.
I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate [Bride’s Name] and [Grooms Name] on their wedding day. It’s a beautiful day and a truly special occasion. I know that you’ll both make each other very happy and I wish you both a long and happy life together.
