Hello everyone! I’m Linda, and as David’s mom, I’ve had front-row seats to his life’s greatest hits – and bloopers! When he was little, he insisted on wearing his Superman cape everywhere, including his first day of kindergarten. Now here he is, marrying his real-life superhero, Emma.
I’ll never forget when David called me about this ‘amazing girl’ he’d met at his friend’s wedding. He talked so much about her that I thought he was exaggerating. Then I met Emma, and realized he hadn’t talked about her enough! Though I did have to explain to her that when David claimed he learned to cook from me, what he actually learned was my phone number to call for recipes – which he still does, by the way.
Emma, you’ve brought out the best in my son. Before you, his idea of interior decorating was a gaming poster and string lights. Now he actually owns matching furniture! And more importantly, I’ve never seen him smile as much as he does when he’s with you.
David, watching you grow from that little boy who couldn’t sleep without his toy dinosaur (which I know is still hidden in your closet) into the man you are today has been my greatest joy. Emma, thank you for loving my son, quirks and all. You’re not just gaining a husband today – you’re also inheriting all his childhood embarrassing photos, which I’ll happily share over wine!
Would everyone please raise their glasses? To David and Emma – may your love story be as endless as David’s childhood questions about why the sky is blue, and may you always make each other as happy as you are today. To the newlyweds!
